My female classmates would also spend their time talking about the children they would eventually have, and try to come up with names for them. When they asked me what I would name my children, I said I wasn't going to have any. Naturally, that comment resulted in a lot of strange looks. So, just to shut them up, I came up with the following three names:
FIRST CHILD - male or female didn't matter, although this works better for a male: Donne Orion. "donne" (pronounced dough-NAY) is a French verb meaning "to give", and it looks a lot like my own name - I was searching around for something similar and found this in my French dictionary. Perfect! Of course, everybody thought it was supposed to be pronounced "DON-nee" like in Donny Osmond. Sheesh! Friggin peasants. Orion should be obvious, it's my favorite constellation.
MALE - Darris Anthony. I think "Darris" was a character in the novel “The Outsiders” and I just liked the way it sounded with Anthony after it.
FEMALE – Ilia Adelaide. Ilia is actually the name of a character in the first Star Trek movie (the bald chick), and is pronounced “eye-LEE-ah”, while Adelaide is the name of a city in South Australia. Both are super pretty-sounding names, and I really liked the combination of the two.
