Appearance – 3.25”H, conical in shape with a smooth red-to-yellow coloring, and pale yellow flesh.
Taste – Definitely a softer, sweet apple with a nice yet mild flavor. There is very little acidity here, and the mellow sweetness fades quickly. It has a nice crisp to it getting through the skin, but the flesh is definitely on the softer end of the spectrum.
It’s getting harder and harder to find new apples, and finding two so close together amazed me. The difference in price with #54 (Lucy Glo), however, is substantial, and I was wondering why this one cost so much less. I’m guessing it’s because it’s definitely a softer apple, and online sources claim this was bred to be a slightly crunchier version of the Gala apple.
