New fiction!
Care for some short fiction? One of my short stories was published in the book below, available on Amazon. My story is Science Fiction, but the book has several different genres - horror, fantasy, humor, and more. There really is something for everyone here, plus all proceeds go to St. Jude's (even though they didn't agree to be specifically identified in the book itself, go figure). Give it a try!

The Best of the 30 Day Photo Challenge
A month ago I undertook a thirty day photo challenge, where I’d take photos every single day but post only one of them to a special folder on my Facebook page. Now that the project is over, I can look back at what I’ve done and I must say I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned more about my taste in photography, lighting, and even a few things about my camera. Here are a few of my favorites, with a bit more information about each photo.
UPDATE: I'm having some difficulty in uploading more than five photos to this page. While I figure out what the problem is...enjoy! :)

Day 3 – the keyboard
This was my first attempt at an extreme close-up and I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Even with strands of kitty fur on it, the detail is extraordinary – I never expected to see texture on the sides of the keys, but it’s there. This was also an early attempt at a elongated perspective, and while I didn’t quite achieve what I was aiming for (I managed that a few days later), it’s a very good photo. Next time I use the air duster first, however.
Day 7 – balloon forest
Composition is everything in this picture. I love the many vibrant colors in this photo, and all the different shapes. I also zoomed in a little closer so that there was no “frame” for the balloons – they stretch from side to side without end. There could be more of them but you’d never tell from this photo.
Day 8 – new checks
Here is where I finally got the elongated perspective I’d been aiming for. The front parts of the checks are in focus, while the back is not; that was deliberate. I was also trying for a photo that would look completely at home in a banking brochure. Mission accomplished!
Day 9 – soap bubble
There is not much to say about this photo, it’s just such a striking image! I think a lot of that has to do with the plastic wand being photographed almost completely edge-on; it’s not obvious at first glance what exactly it is. You’ll also notice the bubble is slightly bigger than the part it’s sitting on – I’d created it through the larger hole, and then caught it on the wand as it was falling. =click=
Day 26 – abandoned Crocs
I was actually taking a photo for a Fark photography contest when I found these, filled with rainwater. I actually prefer this photo to the other one I uploaded for the contest, and didn’t even notice the insect at the time I took the pic.
