Best Tourist Attraction – The Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, Sydney. No brainer on this one, huh!
Best Beach – Mooloolaba Beach, Sunshine Coast/Brisbane. You never forget your first time swimming in the Pacific…
Best Unplanned-For Sight – Dolphins frolicking in the water not three feet away from the swimmers (!!!), Glenelg Beach, Adelaide.
Most Unusual Sight – Waverly Cemetery, Sydney. Death with a killer view.
Best Night-time Sky View – Tie: the Southern Cross (seen from the window of the plane on the way there) and the Milky Way (seen from Helen’s house, Sunshine Coast – I had never seen either of these before).
Place I Didn't Spend Nearly Enough Time In – Brisbane. Yep, that place was totally cool.
Place I Really Wanted To Go To But Didn't – Botany Bay, Sydney. I flew over it on the plane into Sydney, however, and got some great aerial shots instead.
Best New Short-Term Friend – Luke from Melbourne, met in Adelaide. He was awesome, knew a lot about Aus music. Righteous.
Best Supporting Performance – Qantas. The super-awesome deal they offered made this whole journey 100 times better; I got to see places I hadn’t originally planned on seeing!!
2nd-Best Supporting Performance – Sydney’s public transit system, including the buses, subway, ferries AND Greyhound Australia!
Worst Performance Regarding Anything Else – Cingular for giving me bad info on how to make/receive calls while in Australia. I figured out how to make local calls through trial and error, but making long distance or receiving calls from locals? Pfft. Oh well.
Worst Personal Dilemma – Popping my right knee out while jumping up and down at the Spy concert (argh!!!), but thankfully it popped back in just 10 minutes later. (whew!)
Funniest Personal Dilemma – Trying to explain where I was staying while in Sydney! I had no idea Kings Cross had so many, uh, “colorful” establishments!! (“I’m sleeping at a hostel, a HOSTEL, you know?”)
Most Emotional Moment – On the plane flying into Brisbane… “OMG OMG I’m actually arriving in Australia!!!!”
Best Meal – Prawns and chips, Adelaide. Mmmmmm.
Best Laugh – Talking with the Spies after the show… “American tour!!!” Oh. My. God. J
Strangest Realization – Chatting with Joy, Canberra, about how we’ve been corresponding for an unbroken 20 years – TWENTY YEARS!! I then realized I’ve been a Spy fan for the same amount of time. Wow.
Best Fleeting Encounter – Ray in Adelaide. Aus wine is gooooooood. J
Best New Food Item Tried – Uh…Helen’s lunch and dinner, Sunshine Coast/Brisbane.
Favorite Photos Taken – Everything while in Sydney, and I do mean everything – the zoo, Spies, architecture, beaches, the rain…
Favorite Personal Souvenir – Tie: the CD Robbie signed for me in Brisbane, and the photo the Spies signed for me in Sydney. (sigh) J
