Best Tourist Attraction - The Eiffel Tower (DUH)
Best/Most Interesting Museum - Musee de la Musique, Paris (I spent two hours in there alone!)
Most Overrated Museum - The Guggenheim in NY (MOMA was infinitely better)
Most Unusual Site - Cimeterie a Pere LaChaise, Paris (where Jim Morrison is buried, and yes I got a photo of his tombstone)
Place I Didn't Spend Nearly Enough Time In - The Louvre, Paris (it's just too damned big!). A close second is the Musee Rodin, also in Paris.
Place I Really Wanted To Go To But Didn't - The Central Park Zoo, NY
Best New Short-Term Friend - That guy from London I met on Valentine's Day (I never did get his name)
Best Supporting Performance - The Public Transit Systems; the MTA in NY and the Metro/RER/Bus lines in Paris. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without them. J
Best 2nd Supporting Performance Supporting the Best Supporting Performance Winner - Expedia.com, for providing a really easy way to get Metro tickets, museum passes and show tickets.
Worst Performance Regarding Anything Else - Also Expedia.com, for totally screwing up my flights from NY to Vegas. I will never buy airline tickets from them again! >:p
Worst Personal Dilemma - Not bringing enough painkillers to deal with my back problems...eugh!
Funniest Personal Dilemma - Setting off the metal detectors in EVERY airport I went through because of my knee brace! I had to be pulled over to the side and searched at every single security checkpoint!
Most Thorough Airport Security Personnel - The Dutch in Amsterdam. WOAH! I didn't even get a cigarette afterwards! J
Best Meal - Tie: both in Paris; the meal in Montmarte and the meal with le Familie Chenillat (FYI, that's pronounced "shen-ee-WAH")
Best In-flight Meal - KLM Airlines
Best Laugh - Paris/Noisy-le-sec; being shown a photo of Didier as a baby, in all his glory (ie, nude). Laughing because he kept trying to cover up his bits and pieces in the pic and I wouldn't let him! J
Most Emotional Moment - Visiting The Dakota in NY, and seeing the "Imagine" memorial for John Lennon in Strawberry Fields, Central Park.
Nicest/Most Comfortable Moment - Last night in Paris/Noisy-le-sec, using Didier as a pillow while watching "Chicago" (dubbed in French).
Favorite Photos Taken - In NY, the "artsy" pics I got of Central Park, plus some architecture (Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Bldg, Chrysler Bldg...). In Paris, the view from Montparnasse, and anything that included Didier.
Stupidest Fare Paid - The Air Train from JFK to the subway...FIVE BUCKS for a 3-minute, one-way ride?? You gotta be kidding! You can expect to get overcharged for a cab fare, but THIS was ridiculous!
Best Fleeting Encounter - The "kisser" at Montmarte, Paris! Ah, the French... J
Best example of a local "accent" - the cop I talked to in Times Square who actually said "youse guys"!
Favorite Personal Souvenir - Other than all the photos I took, I'd probably say the Bloomingdales bag, NY. (Although the French chocolates and Pralines I got are quite good, too. J Yummers.)
Best Souvenir for Someone Else - The NYPD t-shirt for my nephew who wants to be a policeman.
Best Writing Done on a Postcard - the "phallic symbol" comment I made about the Eiffel Tower, followed closely by the Paris card I sent to another nephew that was written entirely in French, as he's the only other person in my family who's studied that language!
Best New Food Item Tried - Escargot, Paris. No, really! J It wasn't bad at all, and kind of reminded me of eating shellfish. (get it? SHELL fish? oh, never mind...)
