I almost never make side dishes, give me one big bowl of pasta Bolognese and I’m all set. The pre-dinner salad was a completely foreign concept to me growing up; we never had them. So, as an adult, I’ve gotten very used to ridiculously simple one-course meals. The meals from my early 20’s should give you an idea of this: macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles, frozen Swanson dinners where the green beans that were included were just tossed. And so on.
So now I’ve gotten used to eating nothing but protein for the occasional meal – my own warped version of the low-carb Atkins diet-thing, sans green vegetables. Okay, that adds to the explanation as to why I have so much of this stuff sitting around. Now what do I do? Get more protein! And that’s what I did.
It's a Meat Bonanza!! I went to that bastion of cheap food, Aldi, and bought fifty bucks worth of nothing but meat. I got frozen chicken tenderloins, half a ham, five pounds of ground beef, four packages of bacon, a few frozen steaks, and a pound and a half of frozen shrimp! (They didn’t have any turkey I liked) I got home, made some chicken for dinner, some bacon for breakfast, and everything was deeeee-lish! Then Aunt Flo arrived, which always kills my appetite. I literally had to force myself to make some chicken and rice for today’s lunch, as I’m just not hungry at all. TYPICAL. :p
