Ella Maria Pizzeria, 1254 West Chester Pike, Havertown
UPDATE: The name of this shop has changed to Nick's Pizzeria. Quality of pizza may be different now.
One large (16”) pizza, half cheese, half pepperoni, $11.65
Crust: These slices were extremely floppy and the crust was thin, but the handle was the opposite - quite thick, yet soft. Actually not a bad crust at all, just some inconsistencies with the thickness.
Sauce: This wasn’t bad, but there was not very much of it.
Cheese: The cheese was somewhat undercooked, but pretty good otherwise.
Pepperoni: Now these were absolutely ginormous slices of pepperoni, easily three times the size of any other; two slices of them practically covered one full slice of pizza! They had a decent thickness, really good texture and were not overly spicy but had enough spice to “bite”. They were also really, really tasty – the best pepperoni we’ve come across!
The pie was greasy on the pepperoni side (possibly because of the large pieces), but overall it was better than average. It definitely tastes much better than it looks. Points were taken off because they only have two sizes of pies, and we couldn’t handle getting two 14” pies again, so we opted for the one large half-n-half.
