Drexel Hill Pizza, 4603 State Road, www.drexelhillpizzagrill.com
Special offered: two small cheese pizzas $10.95, extra toppings $1.20
Crust: Weird! It was really thin in the middle but thick on the outside. Also, the “handle” size was inconsistent, with cheese and sauce slopped all over the place, and the parts that were untouched were overdone with a slightly burnt taste.
Sauce: This was okay, nothing special, a bit bland.
Cheese: There was plenty of it but it wasn’t evenly spread out. Most of the cheese was in the middle of the pie, with very little on the outer rims. The inconsistencies with the crust probably had a lot to do with this.
Pepperoni: A little bland, very average.
First impression: yech. Just the appearance alone was bad. The thick crust handle caused everything to slide down into the middle, and since the crust there was thin it got all soggy, and fast. Thick outer/thin inner is a bad combination. Nothing stayed ON the crust when you bit into it, it just slid right off. Also, with too much cheese in the middle it was undercooked, while the outer handle got overcooked. I barely finished half of each slice, eating mostly the cheese and pepperoni; huge slabs of crust were still sitting in the box afterwards.
