One small cheese, one small pepperoni, $11.55
Crust: This wasn’t bad but the handle part of the pie was much too hard, making it basically inedible. The rest of the crust was over cooked and slightly burnt in spots.
Sauce: This was NOT pizza sauce. They used pasta sauce, and since I’ve ordered their pasta dishes before I recognized it right away. I did some research and while the two sauces are essentially the same, pizza sauce generally has a lot more spices in it because not as much of it is used. It was very weird and just didn’t taste right at all. After only a few bites I couldn’t take it any more and had to scrape all the sauce off. On the plus side it was very fresh, but it had huge chunks of tomato in it (I hate that) and was unevenly distributed across the pie.
Cheese: This was a bit undercooked but there was plenty of it.
Pepperoni: These were kind of greasy but otherwise they were really good! Decent thickness, good texture, not too spicy.
It would seem that while the cheese and the pepperoni are not deal-killers, a bad crust or sauce can totally KILL a pizza. That seems to have happened here. This pizza would have been not bad at all if only they’d used a proper pizza sauce. Once 98% of the sauce was scraped off the pie it was fine, so…live and learn. If I order pizza from them again I’ll opt for the white pizza instead.
